Do you have muscular aches and pains that show up first thing in the morning or as the day wears on? The way we use our bodies in everyday life, as well as old or recent injuries all effect how our bodies feel.
When we have a chronic muscular imbalance, a massage or chiropractic adjustment helps for a while, but then we get stressed or sleep in an odd position, and there it is again.
What to do?
At Spring we take an educational approach to postural pain.
Together, we do a series of orthopedic tests to learn what muscles are involved.
Once we understand the dysfunction, we have two main tools to treat imbalances that work amazingly well when used in combination.
One is Sports/Orthopedic Acupuncture.
This method of acupuncture is unlike any other therapy. The specific needle placement reeducates the muscle by resetting its tonicity. If the muscle is too tight, it relaxes. If it is too lax, it activates. This reeducation of the muscle spindles often immediately reduces pain and improves function.
The other tool we use is corrective exercise.
We draw on yoga, bodyweight and weighted exercise, and teaching body awareness. We create a corrective exercise program specifically for you to do at home. Our goal is to teach you how to detect when you are moving towards pain, and how to use your corrective exercise program to maintain pain free movement.
